When Life Falls Apart: How Coaching Helped Me Rebuild—and How It Can Help You Too

Several years ago, I would have told you I was living my best life.
My career was thriving, marked by high-energy engagement in global higher education. I was co-pastoring an inner-city congregation filled with people I adored. My family was my joy—married, raising three incredible kids, and building a life in a home we loved.

From the outside—and honestly, even to myself—I believed the story: everything was good.

Then, in late 2017, the unthinkable happened.

A sudden, overwhelming tsunami of life events crashed into my world, demolishing everything I thought was secure. Overnight, the ground beneath me disappeared. I was tossed into deep waters—struggling for air, searching wildly for anything solid enough to help me stand again.

I realized quickly: I could not survive this alone.
The storm was too powerful, too relentless, and too heavy for one person to carry.

So I reached for help.

Professionals stepped into my life with the perspective, tools, and compassion I desperately needed. Therapists and mental-health experts walked with me as I untangled the pain, made sense of my story, and rediscovered the truth of my worth and identity. Their expertise helped me heal what was broken and begin rebuilding a future from the rubble.

Subsequently, there was another kind of support that changed me in different ways.

I experienced, for the first time, the transformative impact of partnering with a certified coach.

Initially, therapists helped me process the past.
Meanwhile, my coach helped me reclaim the future.

To begin with, through asking intentional questions, deep listening, and an unwavering belief in my potential, my coach helped me discover strengths I couldn’t yet see and values that had been buried beneath years of crisis. Coaching didn’t tell me what to do—it empowered me to uncover the future already waiting inside me.

And that experience reshaped my life.

Over the past seven years, this journey of pain, healing, and curiosity has rebuilt and birthed purpose in me. Now, I bring my academic training, decades of leadership, and the meaning forged out of loss and resilience into my work as a coach. I know what it is to lead while shattered. I know what it is to rebuild when everything feels impossible.

And because of that, I know how to walk with others through their impossible moments, too.

As your coach, my passion is making space for clarity where there is chaos, possibility where there is fear, and vision where hope feels out of reach.

Similarly, I listen deeply, ask powerful questions, and create curiosity. In this manner, you begin to uncover what is already true, already strong, and already waiting to rise in you. As a result, I encourage you to adopt a posture of curiosity as you forge your path forward!

You can trust me with the hard things—because I’ve lived them.
I’ve led them.
I’ve rebuilt because of them.

I’m here to create space for you to do the same.
